Honda-V4-powered, drag-focused ‘Vette is a very controversial build

As we all know well, some people have strict opinions about car tuning, a distinct vision and unwavering ambition, but lack what one might call the big picture. Do you think swapping a perfectly capable six-liter LS V8 for a 2.4-liter Honda four-banger qualifies as an example?
The author of the build works at Unruly Motorsports, so some expertise at engine swapping is implied. He claims he bought a sixth-gen Corvette particularly for drag racing purposes and hopes to get into the 6-second quarter-mile range with it. In order to that to be feasible, the ‘Vette has to shed some weight – and the tuner sees an engine swap as the best option.
The stock LS V8 makes room for a Honda K24, a four-cylinder mill with not even a half of the displacement. Forged pistons and connecting rods, a 67mm turbocharger on dual ceramic ball bearings and a compression ratio of 11:1 let the tiny mill produce approximately 840 PS (828 hp / 618 kW) in another project. This one will be similar, but with additional tweaks to hopefully get around 900 PS (888 hp / 662 kW).
Once complete, the car should participate in drag racing events this year. But while it is still a work in progress, let us enumerate what appears to be the issues.
First, picking a Chevrolet Corvette C6 for extreme drag racing (6-something seconds, remember?) is a bit odd. The car tips the scales at above 1.5 metric tons (3,300 lbs) and is easily outmatched by lighter rivals. Second, the LS engine could be made to yield even more power without issue. Third and most important, the swap only cuts a small portion of the weight (less than 100 kg, or 220 lbs) while further negating the advantage with the Ford 9-inch rear end and Powerglide transmission mentioned in the video.
Would you be inclined to agree? Or do you think it makes sense in a way we haven’t considered?
