Study finds when EVs outsell ICE cars in Europe

The Electric Mobility Platform implies that electric cars may start outselling combustion engine-powered vehicles on all main markets around Europe in three years, Oilprice.com reports.

According to the association, dropping prices are the key reason why battery cars become more and more popular among buyers. Around 14,000 people has been polled for the survey.

Once the EV market enters the same price territory as the traditional cars, the demand can be expected to skyrocket. Experts believe this will happen no later than 2028, and there is a good chance for the waiting to be much shorter. If everything goes smoothly, the EV boom might even happen in three years from now.

The authors of the report also highlight that buying a new EV right now already makes economic sense in the long run thanks to cheaper maintenance and mileage. High initial prices and lacking infrastructure still repel many potential buyers.

To popularize the EVs in the Old World countries further, manufacturers will be expanding their current lineups, lobbying stricter environmental laws and proposing other legislation changes, the study concludes. By the middle of the next decade, virtually all personal transports in Europe will be battery-electric.
