Subaru unveils STI E-RA, Solterra STI at TAS-2022

Subaru Tecnica International has lit up the fire at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 by introducing two electric concept cars, the STI E-RA and the Solterra STI.

The first one is a supercar powered by four motorized wheels, which results in precise per-wheel torque distribution and a combined nominal output of 1,087 PS (1,072 hp / 800 kW). Manufactured by Yamaha, the motor-wheels draw their power from a 60-kWh traction battery.

The Solterra STI comes based on the all-electric Solterra crossover that debuted in Japan and the USA in November 2021. The company does not say so outright, but it looks like it has only aesthetic tweaks to show for being different from the regular Solterra EV. This includes a roof spoiler, Cherry Red accents and other special exterior trim parts.

Powering the Solterra EV are dual electric motors rated at 217 PS (214 hp / 160 kW) together. The range amounts to 460 km (286 miles) according to a Japanese measurement standard.
