Bentley envisions a wild 1,400-HP EV capable of a 1.5-second sprint

Speaking in an interview to Automotive News, Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark claimed that the company’s first electric vehicle might come in 2025 packing hypercar levels of acceleration.

He said that Bentley had the GT Speed with 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) on its lineup, but going all-electric would enable the company to more than double that figure easily.

He also mentioned that the EV would be able to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in mere 2.7 seconds under normal conditions, but those who are after some extra thrill may engage a special launch mode and hit the same acceleration in a gut-punching second-and-a-half.

It is also official now that the first Bentley EV will come based on the PPE platform also used in the Audi Q6 E-Tron and the Porsche Macan EV. As for the design, very little is known at this point. Rumor has it the EV will be styled as a high-riding sedan with EXP 100 GT design cues (browse through our gallery for a reminder of that one).
