Lamborghini gets a new Le Mans racecar ready to rumble

Lamborghini has confirmed its intention to compete in the IMSA and WEC endurance racing series starting in a few years. The latter category includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which necessitates a highly capable and robust racecar.

The car, which will correspond to the LMDh standard, has now been shown on a teaser. In fact, most of the LMDh vehicles of today are repurposed LMP2 cars switched to all-electric power. Lamborghini says it will design the engine and will buy the chassis from a third-party supplier, as the regulations prescribe. There are only four suppliers in total, and motorsport.com believes the one in question is Ligier.

What’s also interesting, the Italian automaker has no intention of putting together its own racing team. Instead, it plans to simply sell prototypes to other participants.

As for the teaser sketch, it shows a profile view of a car with a bit of a front end that remind us strongly of the street-legal Sian supercar (watch the video and compare).
