Video: ex-Stig piloting a Lucid Air at Goodwood

Lucid came to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with a rather extensive lineup of vehicles to celebrate the launch of the Air EV in the UK. Piloted by Ben Collins a.k.a. Stig, one of the sedans set a new hill climb racing record among production vehicles.

The car used was an Air Grand Touring spec armed with 1,050 PS (1,036 hp / 772 kW), just a touch under the discontinued Dream spec rated at 1,111 PS (1,096 hp / 817 kW). Despite not being the strongest Lucid Air around, the sedan still managed to climb up the entire 1.87-kilometer-long track in 50.79 seconds, scoring 12th in the overall ranking and 1st among stock cars.

Aside from competing, ex-Stig had fun posing as a ‘taxi driver’ carrying celebrities around. He made trips with Schmee150 and Matt Watson of Carwow, among other popular hosts.

Lucid has yet to announce the pricing for Great Britain. In Germany, the flagship spec of the Air starts from a cool €218,000.

The 3.5-meter-long McMurtry Speirling, a one-off racing electric car, holds the absolute record of Goodwood right now. It was able to finish the track almost 12 seconds faster than the Air did.
