Aston Martin Q unveils the DBR22, its latest concept car

The DBR22 is an open-top two-seater that draws inspiration from the DBR1 and DB3S models while celebrating 10 years of the British automaker’s in-house tuning division, the Q.

The concept is meant to highlight the expertise of Q in design and preview the opportunities grated by 3D printing tech. Among other things, the company used it to produce aluminum subframe components that would reduce its overall weight while retaining structural rigidity.

The newcomer also boasts a brand-new exterior design with a novel carbon-encrusted radiator grille. A glance at the tail-end reveals a middle brake light built into the rear diffuser, as well as a couple of large tailpipes in the middle. 21-inch light alloys have 14 spokes each, and the interior offers carbon seats and luxury leather trim.

Powering the concept car is a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The system produces 704 PS (694 hp / 518 kW) and 753 Nm (555 lb-ft) of torque, which lets the DBR22 accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and max out at 319 km/h (198 mph).
