Mahindra unveils 5 SUV EV concepts

Mahindra has come to London with five battery SUV concepts based on the INGLO platform it co-designed with Volkswagen Group. According to an agreement, the German corporation will supply the Indian automaker with MEB-compatible spare parts for these cars when they reach the production stage.

The SUVs shown are between 4,368 and 4,735 mm long (170–185 in) with 2,762 – 2,775 mm between the axles (~108 in). The suspension has McPherson struts at the front axle and a multi-link arrangement in the back. The clearance is standardized at 218 mm (8.5 in).

Buyers can choose from one and two electric motors, looking at a combined output between 231 and 395 PS (228–390 hp; 170–291 kW, respectively). LiFePo4 traction batteries are available in two sizes – 60 and 80 kilowatt-hours, the latter suitable for up to 450 km (280 miles) of range.

The Mahindra XUV.e8 is essentially the electric conversion of the latest XUV700 model. It is 4,740 mm (185 inches) long and slated to go in production in 2024 with three seat rows inside.

The next entry is called XUV e.9. It is a coupe-SUV 4,790 mm (187 inches) long and designed for five passengers. You can see its interior in the gallery here, dominated by a trio of displays and what looks like a sensor-based HVAC control panel.

Rounding off the novelty EV lineup are three BE-series vehicles sharing sporty design and targeted towards younger audiences. The BE.05 will be the first model to reach the market in 2025. Coming in at 4,370-mm (170.7-in), it will be the smallest crossover SUV in Mahindra’s electric range. It will also make do with only two displays inside and a special trim made from recycled materials.

The 4,565-mm (178.3-in) BE.07 model is expected to follow a year later, and a coupe-like flagship named BE.09 will be the last to the market. Nothing has been revealed about the BE.09 so far.
