Someone found this Saab convertible worth $145,000

A rare, but far-from-exclusive Saab 900 Turbo went under the hammer for a record $145,000 earlier this week. The buyer admitted that his very first car in life was a Saab 900 Turbo, and that it was memorable to him because he drove it to his first date with his would-be wife of many years.

The coupe is in perfect condition with only around 250 miles (400 km) under its belt to show for being 35 years old. Its original owner only got rid of it in 2021, and not before making sure that the cherry red body, the black soft top and the drivetrain were in peak condition.

The top is power-assisted and incorporates a heated rear window. The trim spec mentions beige natural leather, 15-inch wheels, fog lamps, an old-fashioned route calculator, an audio system, an AC, cruise control, and heated front seats.

Powering the ride is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine hitting a five-speed manual transmission and the front wheels with 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW). The car underwent serious maintenance last year that saw its thermostat and fuel pump replaced and its fuel tank rinsed clean.
