Chevrolet Silverado gets its belly armored for serious overlanding

Chevrolet has teamed up with AEV to produce the next-gen Silverado ZR2 Bison. Let’s see what the hype is all about.

The truck definitely takes on a more aggressive appearance thanks to a black radiator grille, decals, stainless-steel bumpers, a niche for a winch and 18-inch wheels shod in 33-inch Goodyear rubber.

The ground clearance stays the same, but the manufacturer says that approach and departure angles now amount to 32.5 and 23.4 degrees, a modest improvement over the 31.8 and 23.3 degrees from before. The suspension makes use of new Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers and springs, and the underbody takes advantage of as many as five skid guards.

Powering the adventurous pickup is a 6.2-liter V8 rated at 426 PS (420 hp / 313 kW) and 623 Nm (459 lb-ft) of torque. Sales will kick off next year starting from $78,490, AEV says.
