New Mitsubishi ASX for Europe debuting tomorrow

Mitsubishi announced the next iteration of the ASX in early 2022 and followed up with some specs in June, but the official launch in Europe will only take place tomorrow, September 20. Actual deliveries will start in early 2023.

The second-gen Mitsubishi ASX is not a standalone crossover SUV, but rather a badge-engineered Renault Captur (see video). Both will be made at the same Renault factory in Spain, and the ASX will only get a distinct front grille and bumpers to tell it from its twin. Even the interiors look identical for the most part.

In its most basic version, the ASX will come equipped with a three-cylinder turbo engine rated at 91 PS (90 hp / 67 kW) and a six-speed manual transmission. Paying extra will unlock DCT and a choice between 140 and 158 PS (138 and 156 hp; 103 and 116 kW, respectively). Customers in Europe will not lack hybrid options, either: there will be two modifications rated at 145 and 160 PS (143 and 158 hp; 107 and 118 kW).
