The Adventure 1 is a 600-HP off-road EV with a bed

There are multiple reasons why we decided to share the news about this camper with you. First, it is fully electric and very powerful. Second, it is designed to pass easily where bulky SUVs get stuck. Meet the Adventure 1 by Potential Motors, from Canada.

The off-roader is designed for wilderness trips and recreation. It uses two electric motors jointly rated at 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. The numbers like these would look great on any car’s spec sheet, but the Adventure 1 is a van only 1.62 meters (63.3 inches) wide, which should make it especially maneuverable. It also lacks a hood and rides 330 mm (12.9 inches) above ground – plenty of clearance for an EV.

The main downside is that it is still a prototype, and when (if?) it reaches production, the specifications may change. Still, the company looks like it knows what it is doing. The car rides on a proprietary platform known as Off-Road OS, complete with per-wheel suspension all around, an approach angle of 40 degrees and a departure angle of 45. The overlanding range is being estimated at roughly 100 miles (161 km), and if you happen to get stuck, there’s a propane tank on board that can serve as an emergency power generator in a pinch.

Found inside the van is a full-size bed and a kitchen in the back with two burners, a fridge and a sink.

Prices will start from the equivalent of U.S. $136,600, the company says.
