Video: BMW 1-Series Cabrio swapped to a 420-PS V8 shows off its acceleration chops

Not long ago, we reported about a BMW 1-Series that someone turned into a diesel-powered drag racer with supercar amounts of thrust. Now, another 1-Series caught our attention – this time running a petrol V8 under the hood.

The S65 mill originated from the E90-gen BMW M3. Aside from the engine, the convertible borrows its subframes from the M3, while the quad exhaust system is actually an aftermarket model.

19-inch M Performance wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and allow a sneak peek at StopTech calipers behind them. Inside, M-style dashboard and steering wheel are the main highlights, complemented by a new button regulating the stiffness of the dampers.

Weighing in at 1,620 kilos (3,571 pounds), the convertible receives around 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW) along with 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque to its wheels, which is more than adequate to get it going on the high-speed autobahn. Actually, this is where AutoTopNL takes it in the video below.
