Cadillac Celestiq unveiled as the brand’s new flagship

The Cadillac Celestiq has evolved from stylish show car into the marque’s all-electric flagship SUV. The production will not start until December 2023, and each example will be highly customized. Prices will start from U.S. $300,000.

The Celestiq comes based on the General Motors Ultium platform. Its twin electric motors carry it forward with 608 PS (600 hp / 447 kW) and 868 Nm (640 lb-ft) of torque. With specs like that, the SUV needs 3.8 seconds for its 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint. A 111-kWh traction battery gives it up to 483 km (300 miles) of range.

Buyers can option their Celestiq with 23-inch forged wheels shod in unique Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires. Foam material inserts further reduce the tire noise for a more comfortable ride. The interior takes advantage of quality trimming materials, some of them printed on a 3D printer.

A 55-inch display hovering above the dashboard dominates the cabin, but actually consists of two displays combined under the same sheet of glass. Front seat occupants may launch multimedia apps and use the Internet in transit, and the driver will not be able to see anything on the screen thanks to a safeguard. Passengers in the back get their own two displays sized 12.6 inches across, as well as a smaller third touchscreen used as a control panel for the reclining seats, HVAC and door opening.

The panoramic glass roof overhead comes divided into four zones that can be individually dimmed or made transparent. The 'smart' panel reflects IR radiation and has a special coating that protects the interior against overheating.
