Lexus freaks out the tame RZ e-SUV

Lexus has brought a special take on the all-electric RZ SUV to the Tokyo Auto Salon. Co-designed with racing driver Masahiro Sasaki, the RZ Sport Concept proves that even family-oriented EVs do not have to be boring.

The front end greets the viewer with an aggressive fake grille in matte black, bumper side inserts executed in naked carbon, and a hood with large air intakes (which is actually a front trunk lid, so the intakes serve no real purpose, either).

There are vents cut in the front fenders, which are also flared, side sill extensions linking the front fenders with the rear ones, and 21-inch Volk Racing rims shod in 295/35 tires. The rear end sports a diffuser and as many as three aerodynamic parts – two wings and a moderate-sized spoiler.

The body itself combines black and white with blue accents. Inside, bucket seats for the driver and the front passenger are the main highlights.

From the technical point of view, the SUV rides 35 mm (1.4 inches) lower than stock and utilizes a 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) electric motor on each of its axles. The stock RZ model only has a motor this powerful at the front end, while the rear axle makes do with a less potent 109-PS (108-hp / 80-kW) mill.

Nothing is known about the production prospects of the RZ Sport Concept.
