Mercedes-AMG E-Class gets a bump to 890 PS from VÄTH

The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S combines the utility of a family hauler with the engine thrust of a sports car, sending around 610 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) to the wheels. German tuner VÄTH felt it could do with more power, though, so it turned it into a passable track tool.

The four-liter V8 received a couple of in-house-designed turbochargers, an upsized intercooler and a new exhaust system. Air intake and ECU upgrades weren’t mentioned in the release, but we suspect that those were carried out, too. In the end, the mill started pumping out 890 PS (879 hp / 635 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque.

The dynamic performance changed accordingly. To reach 100 km/h (62 mph), the bulky wagon now needs no longer than three seconds. On a straight section of the track, it can do up to 345 km/h (214.4 mph).

Other additions included 21-inch three-piece forged rims, a couple of spoilers for both ends, struts and braces to keep the lower body rigid and prevent swaying, and a 20mm (0.8-inch) drop in suspension height.

The pricing details aren’t here yet.
