Changan’s Zhuge sub-brand announces 3 production cars, builds factory

Changan has shared its development strategy for the Zhuge sub-brand announced last year. Per CarNewsChina, the press event mentioned more than 10 new models planned for production, 3 out of which are slated to reach the market soon.

To deliver on its promises, the controlling company will build a factory capable of producing up to 420,000 vehicles per year. The production plans mention a whole range of vehicles united under a single internal designation: C798. These cars all have a wheelbase 2,880 mm (112.5 inches) long and a body between 4,760 and 4,900 mm (186–191.4 inches) long. The way it looks, it might be one and the same model coming in a variety of body styles to choose from. The company gives to comment, but says the sales will begin in 2025.

Before the mysterious C798 comes to the market, there will be the CD570. It looks like a large all-electric saloon or liftback with 3.1 meters (121 inches) of wheelbase. The exterior dimensions (LxWxH) are quoted as 5,050 x 1,960 x 1,450 mm (197.3 x 76.6 x 56.6 in).

And then there is the Zhuge CD701, which has the same wheelbase length as the CD570, but a body 50 mm (2 inches) shorter and nearly 200 mm (8 inches) taller. Changan actually already unveiled this one at the 2022 Chengdu Auto Show. It was a futuristic fastback/SUV with an unusual exterior styling and a rather laconic interior housing a nearly rectangular steering wheel and a large central touchscreen.
