Toyota Mirai gains a sportier edition, too bad it’s a one-off

Toyota has attended the Super Taikyu race on the Fuji Speedway with an updated take on its hydrogen-powered saloon, Mirai. The car is only a concept at this point, but it sports a number of meaningful improvements that could eventually make it into mass production.

According to the YouTube channel Ride Now, the show vehicle wears a custom aero kit along with 21-inch wheels and a matte grey paintjob. It sports carbon-fiber decals all around and looks like it rides around 20 mm (0.8 in) lower than stock – reportedly thanks to different suspension springs.

The powertrain details are unknown. The standard Mirai model uses an electric motor to drive the wheels with 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW). Once refueled, it has enough hydrogen for 845 km (525 miles) of range.
