Video: Renault Clio RS Trophy unleashes its beastly self on an autobahn

AutoTopNL has posted an acceleration test video featuring the hottest Renault Clio in production – the RS Trophy.

While the standard RS spec makes do with a 1.6-liter turbo engine and 203 PS (200 hp / 149 kW), the Trophy version dials up the power to 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW) and the torque to 280 Nm (207 lb-ft).

As a result, the car needs around 6.6 seconds for the standard sprint and maxes out at 234 km/h (145 mph). It may not seem like much, but such power is exceptional in its class. Not only that, but various hardware and software tweaks easily let the Clio RS Trophy shine even brighter – and the example in the video is no exception. It was tuned by Dekker Motorsport, and while we do not have all the details, it does look faster than the stock version.

In the video, the French hot hatch hits an unlimited-speed stretch of a highway in Germany and ultimately manages to climb to 250 km/h (155 mph). What impresses even more is its exhaust soundtrack. Check it out in good headphones – it’s worth it.
