Like Hot Cakes: Donkervoort sells half the D8 GTO-40 anniversary series in pre-orders
Donkervoort, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of sports vehicles, has chosen to celebrate its 40th birthday by releasing a limited series of its hi-end D8 GTO-40 sports cars.
Compared to its antecedent, the D8 GTO-40 features a brand-new body frame that makes intensive use of carbon fiber along with light and exotic alloys. It also sports carbon wheels and a lightweight titanium exhaust system, and weighs in at 678 kg (1,495 lbs.) – 20 kg (44 lbs.) under the regular D8 GTO.
The hood cover conceals a revised 2.0-liter turbocharged Audi Straight-Five engine. The engineers have raised its performance by 35 hp (26 kW) to a total of 415 hp (310 kW) and upgraded the cooling system to match. As a result, the vehicle can now rush to 200 km/h (124 mph) in trifling 7.5 seconds.
The anniversary series will include 40 cars at most, half of which have already been sold in paid pre-orders. You may grab your very own performance-laden D8 GTO-40 for €159.500 while there is still time.
