Fiat 500X gets new Adventurer Edition
As you may have heard, the Italy-born mini-SUV Fiat 500X didn’t get such a warm welcome in the USA. Customers quickly lost interest in the vehicle: only 12,600 copies were sold in 2016, then 7,660 in 2017, and 20% fewer in January through May 2018 than in the same period last year.
What should the Italian business do in a predicament like this? Remove the Fiat 500X from its U.S. model range altogether? Or maybe release a new generation? Anyway, the manufacturer went with a third option by unveiling a special edition named Adventurer.
The Fiat 500X Adventurer has the Trekking specification at base. It comes with restyled bumpers decorated with black or silver moldings (you choose), 18-inch wheels, roof railings and a contrast-rich exterior color scheme (the lower doors and side mirrors are painted orange).
The interior of the vehicle only has minor modifications to show, such as the “exclusively designed” floor mats and a new plastic tray in the bottom of the trunk compartment.
Buyers will be able to choose between front drive and AWD. Prices begin at U.S. $23,685 (compare to the U.S. $22,740 and above for the Trekking series).
It is still uncertain whether the special edition will enter the European market as well. Europe sales have been decreasing throughout the past year, but there has been a slight upward trend lately.
