The Czech car manufacturer Skoda will bring its first all-electric crossover SUV, the vRS, out on the market before 2022. The sporty vehicle will have a driving range of 500 kilometers (310 miles), said Skoda’s Marketing Director Alain Favi.

Unlike the main series, the performance-packed Skoda vRS will wear a number of sport car design elements both outside and inside. There will be a few changes under the hood as well, including optimized steering and upgraded suspension.

The first Skoda EV is currently scheduled for release in 2020. As a low-end crossover SUV, it is going to occupy the market niche between the Karoq and the Kodiaq. It will be based on the MEB platform by Volkswagen, which has been developed especially for electrified models. It might as well inherit the drivetrain of the Vision E Concept, which includes two electric motors with 306 hp total output.
