Jeep Trackhawk goes up against Ford GT

Can the heavy and bulky Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk ever really be a match to the sleek and agile Ford GT supercar? The answer is not as simple as you would believe.

This particular Trackhawk has recently been to Hennessey Performance, where it received a number of performance tweaks. Let’s see what the 2,4-tonne (5,360-lb) off-roader is now capable of.

The HPE1000 power kit comes with a neat performance improvement from the stock 707 hp (527 kW) to 1,000 hp (745 kW) and 1,314 Nm (969 lb·ft) of torque. Formidable, isn’t it?

Upgraded like this, the Jeep Trackhawk by Hennessey Performance accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in mere 2.7 seconds and finishes a quarter-mile in 10,7 seconds. Looking at the figures, you’d think it’s a supercar.

The Hennessey Performance engineer team was correct in their assumption that their boosted Jeep would prevail over the Ford GT in the quarter-mile drag race. It has to be said, however, that the SUV would almost definitely lose in the half-mile race.
