Turning your Jaguar E-type Roadster into E-Type Zero is simple

Jaguar Land Rover introduced its first all-electric car, called the E-type Zero, about a year ago. The vehicle was essentially a restomod of the classical E-type Roadster produced since 1968.

The company leads an ad campaign under the motto that goes, “The most beautiful electric car in the world”. This doesn’t seem too farfetched, given what the competitors are pushing out (e.g., Mercedes EQC, Audi e-tron, Tesla etc.). But why buy an old car in a new wrap when you can build one yourself?

If you’ve been wondering whether you could turn a gasoline-powered Jaguar E-type Roadster into an EV, the short answer is: yes, you can. The main point being, all new components of the E-type Zero are the same size or smaller than their counterparts in the gasoline version.

That said, it is only feasible to do it yourself if you already own an E-type Roadster. A used vehicle in a feasible condition could cost up to €300,000.

The Jaguar E-type Zero ships with a 40 kWh battery set offering 330 km (205 mi) in terms of driving range. It accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7 seconds and tops out at 180 km/h (112 mph).

The car ships with a multi-function display, a sound system, navigation and other modern features.
