Car Tuning

Japanese tuners work on a new Nissan Leaf upgrade kit

Would you believe that the Nissan Leaf Mk.1 is the world’s best-selling all-electric car? Because this is totally true. Not even Tesla can boast 320,000 copies sold internationally. What makes it all the more surprising is the fact that the old Leaf looks unassuming, at best.

Granted, the second generation has an appearance that’s quite a bit better than the first one. It also comes with a larger 40 kWh battery, which is always welcome. But there’s a catch: it takes all of 17 hours for the new battery to reach full charge.

You could do lots of things in 17 hours. For instance, you could equip the car with a new body kit, lower its suspension and install a set of designer-made alloy wheels. Actually, that’s what the team of the Japanese tuning shop Kuhl Racing proposes to do.

The guys are working on an aerodynamic body kit for the Nissan Leaf, which will consist of a front spoiler, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, side skirts, and a diffusor. The parts look really good together.

It is the extremely low ride height and the negative camber that give rise to concerns. A car like this isn’t just plain uncomfortable to drive, it is actually dangerous. Alright, let’s look forward to the premiere and hope the presentation vehicle has neither of the two modifications.
