This 2,000-HP Nissan Altima can eat a Godzilla and be fine

The team behind Hoonigan AutoFocus has recently moved over to a new shop and invited Chris Forsberg to celebrate. The formula D driver answered the call in a Nissan Altima drift car tuned to deliver around two thousand horsepower.

The once rather nondescript sedan has received a plethora of upgrades from T1 Race Development and Forsberg himself. The main highlight on the outside is an all-new body-on-frame build that only leaves the OEM bumper, bonnet and glass intact. Other than that, there’s nothing unitized about this Altima anymore.

As impressive as the above feat may sound, the powertrain is truly where it’s at. The team threw away the stock engine and transplanted the legendary VR38DETT turbo-six mill of the Nissan GT-R R35 under the hood. It then received an increase to 4.1 liters of displacement and dual turbines tuned for 35 psi of boost pressure. The block was allowed to remain stock, but the rest of the components are mainly aftermarket mods. This includes the crank, the connecting rods and the main caps, among a slew of others. You can switch between performance modes in the 1,300 – 2,000 HP (970 – 1,490 kW) range.
