Pagani reveals the Imola Roadster

The newly introduced Pagani Imola Roadster runs on the same chassis as the Huayra model that debuted 12 years ago and is touted as the most efficient vehicle in the family. Only eight units will be made.

Like its predecessors, the supercar relies on a six-liter Mercedes-AMG V12 for propulsion. However, the latest revision of the engine makes it output more power and torque – 850 PS (838 hp / 625 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft), to be specific. An Xtrac seven-speed sequential transmission carries the momentum to the rear axle.

The top speed is electronically capped at 350 km/h (217 mph). The exhaust system is made of titanium and features a heat-resistant ceramic coating.

Compared to its coupe sibling, the Imola Roadster isn’t just a no-roof version of it. The aerodynamic kit in particular is different and draws inspiration from the track-only Huayra R model. The air vents in the front bumper and the rear diffuser are new, for example. The vents in the wheel arches serve the dual purpose of cooling the brakes while also removing the air from under the wheels for greater course stability.

The powertrain cooling has also been improved considerably by optimizing the shape of the air scoop found between the seat headrests. Interestingly enough, the rear wing supports are now built into the engine bay lid.

All in all, these improvements have enabled the Imola Roadster to produce an extra 600 kg (1,322 pounds) of downforce at 280 km/h (174 mph). Sophisticated aerodynamics and electronically controlled chassis enable the car to withstand lateral loads of up to 2.2 G. The manufacturer says that the suspension parameters are being monitored by class-leading CPUs.

Elsewhere, the supercar runs on staggered wheels sized 20” and 21” in diameter and makes use of 398mm brake rotors with six-piston calipers.

Highlights inside include carbon-fiber seats wrapped in luxury-grade leather, four-point safety harnesses, carbon-fiber décor and a special seven-channel audio system with speakers built in behind the headrests.

There is no mention of the price.
