Peugeot 208 facelift introduced ahead of November launch

Peugeot has updated its 208 model following four years of production. Sales in Europe will begin in November.

The exterior of the car has been refreshed to reflect the marque’s current design direction. The hatchback wound up with new DRLs shaped like a trio of scratch marks, matching taillights and revised headlamps. The radiator grille outlines have become smoother.

Aside from this, you can choose from new vivid color options and opt for special 17-inch wheel rims. Paying extra for a trim named GT gets you gloss-black arches, LED lights all around an Alcantara trim in the cabin.

The base trim level had its multimedia screen size bumped up to 10 inches from 7. All trims except for the base one also get a 10-inch digital dash. The infotainment UI has been reworked and new web-based services added to the list. The parking cameras supply high-definition video footage now.

Other than that, the interior formula stays more or less the same. Manual cars get a more ergonomic shifter, there are more USB ports all around and the wireless charging pad supports higher charging powers, but that’s about it.

Two mild hybrids have been added to the powertrain department: one rated at 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) and the other one at 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW). Both receive assistance from a 48V electric starter and drive the wheels through a six-speed DCT. Peugeot reckons that both hybrids are around 15% more fuel-efficient than analogous non-electrified engines.

The turbo version with 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW) and the diesel have retired from the market, while the entry-level three-cylinder options have stayed. One is a 1.2-liter three-pot linked with a manual gearbox and making 75 PS (74 hp / 55 kW), while the other one is a boosted variant of the former with 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) at its disposal.
