Report: Polestar 4 owners dent their windowless SUVs en masse in the Netherlands

According to AutoWeek.nl reporting from Netherlands, local Polestar 4 drivers find themselves desperately needing a functional rear window for parking, because the coupe-SUV’s own camera and sensors do little to prevent damage.

The publication shows six photos allegedly made on the streets of the country by the reporters and their “closest acquaintances” over a short observation period – no mass consumer polls or large-scale research of any kind has been conducted yet. Even so, many EVs appear to have similar-looking dent marks on their tailgates, hinting at a prior parking incident or two.

After some talking with the drivers, the AutoWeek crew found that they had much to say about the safety systems of the Polestar 4. In particular, owners complained about the proximity sensors failing to see obstacles properly and the reversing camera taking too long to turn on. On top of that, electric cars are capable of seriously fast reverse-gear speeds, so denting one in a tight spot can be frighteningly easy.

The automaker hasn’t commented on these findings yet. The upcoming Polestar 5 liftback also lacks a rear window, so it might be affected, too.
