Car Tuning
The British McLaren 720S is renowned in the drag racing community as a supercar killer. Not even the much-loved Porsche 911 (991.1) can hold its own against it without prior tuning. But why not tune it, then?
That is what Champion Motorsport, from Florida, did for this video. The German sports coupe landed with the Stage IV upgrade kit including new VTG turbochargers and a slew of other components. The nominal output rose by 240 points to approximately 800 hp (600 kW).
For its part, the McLaren 720S approached the drag strip in its stock guise. It has to be noted, however, that “stock” is a poor description of a vehicle that routinely surpasses its manufacturer-rated specs. It also weighs 200 kilos (440 lbs) less than the Porsche thanks to its tank being only 25 percent full. So, would it be able to trump the Porsche on the drag strip? Watch the video to find out!
