Hoonigan, the racing team founded by the late Ken Block, has posted a video report from its participation in the FAT Ice Race Aspen this February. Among the numerous supercars racing along snowy tracks was the pink Hoonipigasus, a crazy racer built in 2022 specifically for Block.
A little etymology before we start. The name “Hoonipigasus” is a mix of “Hoonigan”, “pegasus” and a reference to a legendary Porsche 917 from the early 1970s: the Pink Pig. Unlike that car, its modern counterpart is made nearly completely out of carbon fiber and runs a four-liter flat engine rated at 1,400 horsepower (1,044 kilowatts). It was originally designed for setting a new world record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
The FAT Ice Race held in Aspen, Colorado on February 8–10, 2024 was a continuation of sorts for the European GP Ice Race usually held near Salzburg, Austria. In this video by Hoonigan filmed during the demo day, you can find a lot of other interesting vehicles, including classic and modern Porsches, an Audi Sport Quattro, an all-electric Rivian R1T, a Toyota Supra racer, a Nissan Z and a slew of custom builds.
