Car Tuning
Back in 2017, Ruf Automotive announced an Anniversary edition of its Porsche 911-based CTR sports car lineup as a means of celebrating 30 years in business. Only 50 vehicles were made, each priced around $1,000,000. The car number 25 from that series is now headed to the auction in Monterey where RM Sotheby’s expects to get between $2.8 and 3.4 million for it.
The owner of this example wanted it made as light as possible, so they ticked all the carbon-fiber options on the list. This means the whole body and aero kit are made of the same lightweight material. On top of that, Ruf added special lightweight doors, carbon-ceramic brakes and carbon/Kevlar-backed seats. The body was given Porsche’s Riviera Blue finish, and the cabin was trimmed to match.
Dual turbos were used to drive up the output of the stock flat-six engine to 720 PS (710 hp / 530 kW) and 890 Nm (656 lb-ft) of torque. That’s plenty as it is, and in a car as featherweight as a Ruf CTR it means you can sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, even hitting 360 km/h (223 mph) if you keep that pedal down long enough.
The auction will commence on August 16th.
