KAMManufactur, a car restoration shop based in Budapest, Hungary, has unveiled a fresh take on its Porsche 912 restomod. The new model wears lightweight carbon-fiber bodywork and tips the scales at just 699 kilos, or 1,541 pounds. A new engine is also underway, but you will need to put aside at least €400,000 if you want a car like this.
One of the German automaker’s lesser-known sports cars from the late 1960s received its first restomod treatment from KAMM in May this year. That one debuted with lots of carbon-fiber panels all around, but still had a stainless-steel roof and rear quarter panels. It also weighed a solid 750 kilos (1,654 lbs) – not bad compared to the standard car with its 1,000+ kg (2,200 lbs) of curb weight.
The new body is still lighter while taking advantage of further aerodynamic improvements. The buyers can order it in naked carbon or finished in virtually any color in the palette. A better AC, more up-to-date infotainment system and new seats are included as well.
The base spec comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated up to 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) and 228 Nm (168 lb-ft). In the next year, KAMM plans to offer a more powerful air-cooled alternative, but its specs remain to be announced.
The original restomod that debuted in May started from €360,000 with many custom options included in the price. The all-carbon version revealed this week begins from €400,000. Even so, the tuner claims only several production slots remain free for 2024, meaning you should hurry if you want one.
