VW confirms a full switch to Rivian’s EV architecture
According to a representative of EV maker Rivian, the upcoming R2 SUV will provide the basis for all Volkswagen electric cars moving forward.
He did not elaborate whether this applied to the entire chassis and drivetrain or just software architecture. That said, Volkswagen Group execs had mentioned an intention to switch to superior Rivian technology on multiple occasions before.
The two automakers signed a cooperation agreement last year.
