Meet Rodin FZero, a single-seat hypercar from New Zealand

The Rodin Cars FZero is a track-only vehicle at the moment, but its road-worthy alternative is already in development.

Despite coming in at 5.5 meters (18 feet) long and 2.2 meters (7.22 feet) wide, the car only has one seat. It also boasts an impressively low height of just 1,130 mm (3.7 feet) and a wheelbase spanning 3 meters (9.84 feet). Ubiquitous use of carbon fiber keeps the weight as low as 698 kilograms (1,539 pounds). The chassis is also made from carbon composites, while the brakes at all four corners are carbon-ceramic. OZ Racing 18-inch forged magnesium wheels shod in Avon slicks also contribute to the ‘diet’.

Keeping things exciting is a four-liter, twin-turbo V10 deemed ‘revolutionary’ by the company. Co-developed with Neil Brown Engineering, it churns out 1,000 PS (986 hp / 735 kW) at 9,000 RPM. The peak torque amounts to 910 Nm (671 lb-ft). An electric motor pushes the total to 1,160 PS (1,144 hp / 853 kW) and 1,026 Nm (757 lb-ft). An eight-speed A/T carries the torque to the rear wheels.

Only 27 people will be privileged enough to enjoy the splendid Rodin FZero starting from £1,800,000.
