French showroom Royal Cars is selling a couple of Smart Fortwo microcars right now, with the green cabriolet priced at €69,000 and the grey hatchback at €67,900. Sounds ridiculous? Well, that’s what you get for considering a Mansory special edition.
The German tuner has dramatically redesigned both vehicles. Sure, you can buy a near-mint Porsche 718 Cayman for the same kind of money, or a GR Supra, or even an Alpine 110. However, a Smart Fortwo clad in forged carbon is clearly a different kind of swag.
Both cars ride on 18-inch alloy wheels and feature a complete Mansory body kit along with what we assume to be a fully redone interior (there are no cabin photos, though). As for the engine – the 0.9-liter turbo three-pot – it gets massaged from its standard 90 to 125 metric horsepower (from 89 to 123 hp; from 66 to 92 kW, respectively). The torque goes up from 135 to 200 Newton-meters (100–148 pound-feet).
All of the above sounds nice if you forget the pricing for a moment, but consider also that the hatchback has 15,300 kilometers (9,500 miles) on the odometer and the Cabrio has 22,600 km (14,000 miles). Shouldn’t depreciation have kicked in somewhere along the way? Or do you think these are genuinely worth their asking price? We know what we think, now let us know your opinion.
