Exceedingly rare Spyker C8 just went for $670k

An auction in Scottsdale, Arizona culminated with this gorgeous 2006 Spyker C8 Laviolette finding a new owner for $670,000. It had less than 3,400 kilometers (2,100 miles) under its belt.

The listing also mentioned that only two Spyker C8 models left the assembly line finished in bright red – one coupe and one Spyder, which is the car actually depicted here. After a year of ownership, the owner decided they didn’t need the droptop and ordered a coupe conversion. They later replaced the lights all around with LEDs and sourced a different steering wheel from a newer C8.

A 4.2-liter Audi V8 installed in a transaxle fashion outputs 406 PS (400 hp / 299 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The car underwent an engine-out restoration last year and is reportedly in flawless driving condition.

As you may remember, the holder of the Spyker brand went bankrupt several years ago. The nameplate has since been revived, and the company is now working on a new car billed as a revival of the iconic Preliator coupe. All we know about it to date is that it’s going to rely on a non-electrified twin-turbo V8 for propulsion. The premiere date and pricing remain to be announced.
