Suspiciously non-stock Subaru Impreza 22B STi goes on sale

Cars&Bids is auctioning off a well-preserved right-hand-drive Subaru Impreza 22B STi coupe. Despite some non-original parts and over 77,000 km (48,000 mi) under its belt, it is already being traded for $125k+ with a full day remaining.

The 22B STi was released to celebrate the company’s 40th birthday and its recent WRC victories. This example got imported into the USA from abroad with what an inexperienced eye may take for a stock body kit. A closer look reveals that neither the rear wing nor the wheels are original – they just look somewhat close. The vivid blue paint job is also new, making us wonder whether something happened to the car in the past to warrant such subtle modifications.

Inside, everything stays largely the same except for the steering wheel and the parking brake. Power still comes from an inline-four mill turbocharged to what the manufacturer calls 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW). Actual measurements suggested that the 22B STi made closer to 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW) at the crank.
