The wealthiest of Subaru 22B fans have an option to live their dream with the Prodrive P25, a high-end restomod based on a modern WRX STI chassis. Only 25 were made, redesigned from the ground up for serious racing and offered starting from equivalent of U.S. $560,000. That was a few years ago, though, so you’d better find a spare million USD if you want one now.
The car pictured here is listed on RaceCarsForYou with a touch under 1,000 kilometers (610 miles) on its odometer. It boasts Subaru’s most iconic blue finish on top of a largely carbon-fiber body that makes it weigh only 1,200 kilos (2,645 pounds).
All power is sourced from a turbocharged flat-four engine equipped with a superior air intake, turbocharger setup and forged internals. The output amounts to 446 PS (440 hp / 328 kW) and 619 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed sequential transmission carries the momentum to all four wheels via an AP Racing dual-plate clutch.
Sprinting from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 miles per hour) takes less than three seconds, Prodrive claims.
The listing asks for a cool £700,000, which currently converts into U.S. $934,000. It’s perhaps worth mentioning that a very similar P25 went up on sale in the UK in winter. It had a different exterior color and never passed seven bids with the best offer at £350,250 ($468,000).
