Tesla Roadster production gets postponed until 2022

Speaking in a recent interview, Tesla CEO Elon Musk admitted that, while the engineering preparations for the production of the Tesla Roadster were nearing completion, the assembly would not begin until 2022.

He added that we would still be able to have a close look at the Roadster in late 2021, when the company comes up with a production-close prototype.

In the meantime, Tesla continues testing its new tri-motor powertrain layout with one front motor and two rear ones. It also works on a breakthrough battery tech.

When it hits the market, the Tesla Roadster is poised to become the marque’s sportiest, fastest vehicle to date while offering close to 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) of range on a single charge.
