Meyers Manx, the U.S.-based company that brought back the same-named legendary buggy from the ‘60s giving it a modern EV powertrain, has now announced a gas-powered version. Called the LFG, it will emerge in a limited production run supervised by UK Porsche tuning specialist Tuthill.
On the outside, the vehicle has rounded LED rectangles for the headlights, a bumper with a built-in bull bar, an anti- roll bar and gull-wing doors that you can detach and store when not needed. It rides on lightweight rally-style alloy wheels and boasts a serious off-road suspension setup with plenty of ground clearance.
Unlike the road-worthy version from a few years ago, the LFG comes equipped with a 3.1-liter flat-six engine capable of revving up to 11,000 RPM. Its output remains to be disclosed, but Porsche restomods from Tuthill use a similar-spec engine rated slightly above 400 horsepower (300 kilowatts). A six-speed sequential transmission carries the torque to all four wheels via a trio of LSDs.
The production is scheduled for next year, and only 100 units will be made in total. Owners will be invited on a Baja journey in 2027 and will be able to participate in other special events later on, Meyer Manx claims.
