The off-road vehicle gurus from Icon 4×4 have unleashed their latest project car: the Chevrolet C Modern Retro Series. It looks like the Chevy C10 truck produced from 1967 until 1972, but drives like the modern Chevrolet Silverado 1500 V8 that it really is, in disguise.
For starters, the company dismantles the whole pickup and transplants the body of the old Chevy C10 onto the new chassis. While doing so, the tuners take care to apply fake rust and patina so as to make it look like a genuine old-timer. The exterior trim, including both bumpers and the wheels, starts looking like it’s seen better days, while modern suspension, powertrain, brakes and steering mechanism deliver a refined driving experience expected of a present-day truck.
Interestingly enough, the interior largely corresponds to that of the 60-year-old donor. Icon 4×4 mentions superior noise proofing all around and a new multimedia system with a small display in the middle of the dash, but the rest stays delightfully retro. Oh, and power windows are included as well – you will find the buttons tucked away in those manual window cranks on the doors.
Only five such trucks will be made, each starting from U.S. $450,000 before options. The final, fifth unit will be extensively customized and loaded with options from the tuner’s Omakase Special program. As such, it will start from $500,000. Both amounts quoted already include the Silverado donor vehicle, but you’ll have to procure a suitable Chevrolet C10 or C20 at your own expense.
