New Toyota GRMN Corolla hot hatch has the North Loop in sights

Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division claims that the upcoming GRMN Corolla hatchback will have everything on board to successfully lap up the Nürburgring. This includes numerous chassis and suspension improvements, optimized aero, and an engine with a steeper torque curve.

In its GRMN guise, the Corolla continues to utilize its three-cylinder turbo mill rated at 305 PS (300 hp / 224 kW). However, its peak torque rises to 415 Nm (306 lb-ft) and stays available throughout 3,600–4,800 RPM. An added air scoop on the hood helps with the cooling. The standard manual transmission and all-wheel drive system are retained, but with assorted tweaks to enable sharper cornering.

To further help with agility, Gazoo Racing installs custom springs and shock absorbers, as well as recalibrated power steering. The body kit gets revised, too, with a new rear wing, side canards and air vents listed under the modifications.

The interior comes draped in polymer fabric and ditches the rear bench to minimize curb weight. As a result, the GRMN version weighs 30 kilos (66 pounds) less than a stock Corolla.

Preorders will open in the fall, but the first shipments won’t be made until 2027, Toyota says.
