Toyota dedicates two special editions to the 70 years of Crown

The Toyota Crown lineup is turning 70 years old this year, so customers in Japan will be getting two limited editions of the sedan. Both are already available for ordering, ranging from 7.55 to 9.1 million JPY.

Starting with the Crown Z The 70th, it features a silver upper body and a contrasting lower body that can be either white or black. It rides on 20-inch multi-spoke wheels finished in matte grey.

The other one, the Crown Z Limited Matte Metal, gets the same wheels along with a matte grey bodywork. The company highlights that this particular finish is highly scratch-resistant and otherwise very durable.

Both sedans feature a black interior wrapped in expensive leather with natural wood veneer accents throughout. The 70th edition also gets assorted anniversary badging, including a special engraving on the “crystal glass” gear selector. The Limited Matte Metal edition lacks these details, opting for a cleaner look.

For the powertrain, buyers in Japan are choosing between hybrid and hydrogen. The former option delivers 245 PS (242 hp /180 kW) from a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and electric motors. The latter packs a single e-motor rated at 182 PS (180 hp / 134 kW) and enough hydrogen for 820 km (509 miles) of all-electric range.
