For obvious reasons, Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Inkas normally deals with luxury vehicles like the Cadillac Escalade. This time around, however, the company was commissioned to beef up a rather nondescript Toyota Tacoma.
The pickup was cladded according to the BR6 ballistic protection standard, but the tuner says it can do anything between BR4 and BR7. In practical terms, it means the truck seen here can withstand prolonged exposure to 7.62mm-caliber automatic rifle fire and the simultaneous explosion of a pair of hand grenades underneath – quite respectable for the workhorse it is.
Aside from reinforced body panels and ballistic glass all around, this Tacoma benefits from run-flat tires, extra thick armoring around the fuel tank and the battery, and a heavy-duty front bumper.
By all indications, the engine stayed stock. The Tacoma lineup starts with a rather basic 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine capable of 228 PS (225 hp / 167 kW). It would be interesting to find out how much slower the truck is with all the added bulk – hopefully the owner got what they wanted.
All pricing remains private. The project was apparently carried out some five months ago, but we only just discovered pictures of it on the Inkas social media.
