Toyota dresses up a Camry for the SEMA

Toyota’s next display piece for the impending SEMA show is the Camry GT-S, a mildly revamped sedan made to look like a production car.

Compared to the U.S. Camry lineup, the example seen here boasts a rather aggressive orange-and-black exterior finish. It is accompanied by a custom body kit, a new front bumper and a reshaped rear diffuser.

Things stay stock in the powertrain department, but Toyota still claims improved performance thanks to coilover-based suspension, 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and eight-piston brakes. The car rides 30 mm (1.2 inches) lower on both axles and outputs 232 PS (229 hp / 171 kW) from a 2.5-liter engine.

According to the automaker, the creators behind this project will be attending the show to gauge the public reaction to their sedan. Based on the feedback, the company may actually change its vision of the next Camry generation.
