Warped Perception has posted an interesting video showing a miniscule Toyan RS-S100 engine (Wankel-type) capable of safely hitting 30,000 revolutions per minute.
The unit – which could well be the world’s smallest engine of this type – has 2.4 cubic centimeters of displacement and makes less than one horsepower. Even so, it spins up to great speeds and sounds not unlike a dream sports car.
The developer says the Toyan RS-S100 will undergo further improvement before being used in a serious project. Everyone interested can buy a single-rotor version of it for $500 or a dual-rotor variant – like the Mazda RX-7 – for $700.
