Vietnamese automaker VinFast is ready to begin selling its cars in France, Germany and the Netherlands later this year. The company has succeeded in obtaining all the necessary permissions and certificates.
Should the initial launch go well, VinFast plans to expand its presence on the Old Continent until it becomes its new primary market. The first car to go on sale will be an SUV named VF8. The flagship VF9 model that’s already shipping in the United States will join the list next year along with the more affordable VF6 and VF7.
VinFast said before that it brought 2,100 VF9 SUVs to the United States to see how well they would sell. All cars are electric and come equipped with two main powertrains, rated at 354 PS (349 hp / 260 kW) and 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW). The battery size is standardized across all models at 87.7 kilowatt-hours, giving buyers from 447 to 471 km (278–293 miles) of driving range depending on other specifications.
