RaceChip turns up the heat on the Mk8 Golf GTI

The eighth-gen Volkswagen Golf GTI is really quite fine straight from the factory, but add some power, sleek forged wheels and a rumbling exhaust system, and you might just fall in love.

German tuner RaceChip worked on the upgrades this time around, adapting its signature GTS Black Tuning Box for the new Golf. Prior to the installation, the hatchback hit the dyno stand with 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) and 367 Nm (271 lb-ft) of torque. Once installed and configured, the external module bumped these figures to 312 PS (308 hp / 229 kW) and 427 Nm (315 lb-ft). This led to a reduction in the 100-200 km/h sprint time from 16 to just 12 seconds.

Elsewhere, the show car sports 19-inch Barracuda Project 2.0 wheels with a matte bronze finish, wheel spacers and Eibach Pro lowering springs. It also makes good use of an Eisenmann exhaust system and wears a subdued yellowish-green wrap by Schwaben Folia with a few added red accents.
