VW Tera goes in production in Brazil

The compact-sized Volkswagen Tera is being assembled at the same factory in Taubaté, Sao Paolo State as its technological twins, Polo and Polo Track.

There are still no details about the crossover SUV, but the automaker points out that it had to invest 16,000,000,000 Brazilian Real (2,800,000,000 USD) into upgrading the factory to begin the production. It also created 260 new jobs at the site. It sounds like the Tera may differ significantly from the Polo lineup, although it remains to be seen how.

We should learn more in May when the car goes on sale.
